Let's Work Together!

To get started, fill out the intake form below to schedule for your quilt

In addition, please read this Q&A section to prepare your quilt for the longarm.

What size should I make my backing and batting?

I require the backing to be at least 4 inches larger on all sides of the quilt top, which adds at least 8 inches in width and length to the top. For example, if you have a quilt top that is 60" x72", your backing should measure at least 68" x 80". It can be bigger, not smaller.

If you are providing your own batting, you will need to add 3 inches to all sides of the quilt top size.  which would mean 66"x78" in the above scenario.

How do I prepare the quilt top?

Please put a safety pin in the center of the side of the quilt and backing you want to be at the top.

Clip loose threads from the back of the quilt top, paying special attention to medium to dark threads that might be visible on a white or light quilt top.

I recommend squaring the quilt top before quilting so that the quilt design will align well throughout the quilt.

It's helpful to prep all edges of the quilt. As the quilt top is handled, it may cause seams to pop open, or bias edges to stretch out of shape.  To prevent this, consider stay-stitching  the edges of the quilt at 1/8 of an inch if needed.

Borders should lay flat.  Wavy borders result from having excess fabric in the border. With careful pressing, the wavy borders should smooth out.

Last, but not least, press the quilt top so it is wrinkle free and all seams lay flat.  We can minimize distortion of a quilt if we press and hold the iron, then lift and move the iron to the next spot.

How do I choose which design is best for my quilt?

I want this to be fun for you and not overwhelming! You have the option of working together on it, or having me make the quilting decisions for you. It all depends on your purpose for the quilt, sometimes "done" is best!

Last, I will consult with you if I see any issues along the way. By working together we can assure the best possible outcome for your quilt.
